Block cutting

Block cutting A new block saw has been developed for cutting blocks, which saws slabs from stone blocks. The working area of this machine permits a block length of up to 4000 mm, a height of up to 1800 mm and a width of 2500 mm.

Type Wheel diameter. Cutting width Cutting height Slab length NC controlled Drive power

The cable guide heads are rotated by 90° for vertical and horizontal cuts respectively, and oriented in the direction of cutting. To automatically control the feed rate, the wire deflection is monitored. In this way, the feed rate is adjusted to match the workpiece hardness, thickness and the sharpness of the diamond wire. This system ensures that the pressure on the wire is always constant and so the service life of the cutting wire is extended.

NEW:
To ensure optimum water introduction in the case of horizontal cutting over the whole cutting width, a cable is pulled behind through the kerf. This prevents the water from running out through the cut, hence allowing straight cuts to be produced.

Horizontal cutting:
Here the cable serves to prevent the water running out through the cut. The cutting gap is between 8 and 11 mm depending on the wear of the diamond wire. The plastic-coated steel cable measures between 6 and 8 mm depending on the size of the diamond wire, and is easy to change. A sickle is also fitted, which scans the workpiece width. The cable guide heads are pushed in or out, depending on the width of the workpiece. This ensures the cable guide heads and the wedge pusher are always at the optimum distance from the stone.

Vertical cutting:
The cable guide heads are rotated using an electrically driven drive motor, which automatically adapts to the specified cutting method. The end positions are also monitored here.
By controlling the wire vibration, the service life of the diamond wire is also extended. If a certain threshold is exceeded, the controller adjusts the wire speed until the wire is measured to be running smoother. Thanks to the oblique position of a cable wheel, the diamond wire turns on itself, resulting in even surface wear.
All carriages are moved on ball-type linear guides and lubricated by the automatic central lubrication system. The diamond wire tension is controlled pneumatically and monitored to guarantee constant tension.

In order to operate the machine automatically, all movements are monitored electrically by the controller. Optionally, the device can also be fitted with a contour cutter and a manipulator to remove the cut stone, as in our Formcut M-400. Additionally, this machine can be linked with our polishing machine Formpolish FP 300. Vertical and horizontal versions can also be supplied individually.
