Automatically change welding fixtures

To automatically load welding robots and finishing machines, a device has been developed that transports the different fixtures on pallets and precisely centres and clamps them onto a mounting jig.

On the feeder side, the pallet is lifted, extended with the pusher arm, positioned over the mounting jig with the chain conveyor, lowered and clamped.

The pusher arm retracts, then the coding determines the pallet number and loads the associated program into the controller. After processing, the pallet is automatically removed, and a new one clamped.

Benefits of the system
  • Different parts can be fed successively into the production system or processed by a welding robot, without the need for conversion work.
  • Time savings when welding recurring individual parts or small series.
  • Flexibility when machining individual pieces in the series.
  • If enough jigs are equipped, they can be processed one after another without human intervention.
  • For further processing, the parts can be transported on the pallets and several production machines loaded with them.
  • These systems are designed and manufactured to meet the individual requirements of the customer.
  • Three basic units rated at 150 kg, 400 kg and 700 kg are available.
